I again gratefully
acknowledge the assistance and encouragement of the many people who
helped with the original publication 'Simply Anderston'. Sharing their
reminiscences helped complete the picture of life in Anderston during
their era. Without their valuable assistance any version of local
history would be very much incomplete.
Completing the text of ‘Anderston Then & Now’ was reasonably
straightforward as I had already much of the information in my
possession. I had the photographs and sketches that I wanted to use, but
adding them to the text was more difficult. Left to my own devices it is
extremely unlikely the finished product would have matched the quality
of this completed publication. Therefore, I gratefully acknowledge the
willing advice and assistance of a number of my friends and colleagues.
I am indebted to the following for their support; Linda Crawford and my
wife Heather for reading through the manuscript and pointing out my
errors; David McLaughlin for sharing his reminiscences and photographs;
Stephen McCann for his advice and assistance in preparing the
photographs for publication; James Mackenzie for sharing his
reminiscences and vast knowledge of local churches; Ronnie Ford for his
IT advice; Mark Temple for sharing his IT expertise and for his
invaluable support in transferring the photographic images onto the
pages.
Finally, I have tried to accurately include a wide range of topics in
this history of Anderston; I trust that I will be forgiven for any
omissions, or errors that may have crept in.
